As per this, the shares of the listed stocks, National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchanges (BSE), cannot be traded on their own exchanges.
A couple of days prior, sources had said the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) may form a panel to examine a regulatory framework that would permit stock exchanges to list their own shares. CNBC-TV18 had written to SEBI seeking a response regarding the same.
However, the SEBI chief on Wednesday confirmed that there would be no panel formed to consider the listed stock exchanges listing their own shares.
NSE shares were trading 0.2% lower at ₹1,765.85 apiece at 12.11 pm, while BSE shares were down 3% at ₹3,103.4 apiece.
