Q2 Business Update
In an exchange filing issued on Saturday, October 3, the company said that its mined metal production rose to 271 kilotonnes, jumping 5% YoY. Furthermore, the company added that the saleable metal production rose to 264 kilotonnes, rising by 7% YoY.
Furthermore, its refined zinc production stood at 212 kt, moving up 5% YoY. The company also added that its refined lead production rose, jumping 14% YoY to 51 kt.
Hindustan Zinc Q1 Results
Taking a quick look at its previous quarter, in Q1 of FY27m the company reported a net profit of ₹5,469 crore, showcasing a staggering 144% jump compared to ₹2,234 crore reported in the same quarter last year. The figure was also higher than the CNBC-TV18 poll estimate of ₹5,059 crore.
The top-line figures also rose for the quarter, as the revenue increased by 77% from the year-ago period to ₹13,747 crore. A CNBC-TV18 poll had estimated the figure at ₹12,599 crore. Hindustan Zinc had reported a topline of ₹7,771 crore in the base quarter.
When we look at the profitability of the company in the previous quarter, the Earnings Before Interest, Tax, Depreciation and Amortisation (EBITDA) also more than doubled from the year-ago quarter to ₹8,050 crore. EBITDA for the previous cycle came in at ₹3,859 crore. The EBITDA margin for the quarter jumped 7% YoY to 58.56% from 49.7% last year.

When we look at the performance of the stock, the company’s shares declined in Thursday’s trade, falling close to 2%. During the session, the stock touched an intraday low of ₹547.20.

The stock has lost 5.60%, or ₹32.90, over the past 30 days or 1-month period. The stock is now 24.28% below its actual 52-week high of ₹733.00. In this year’s trade so far, the stock has seen a decline of close to 10%
Meanwhile, its cushion from the 52-week low is at 22.39% above its 52-week low of ₹453.50. The stock has closed in the green in 4 of the last 10 trading sessions.
