AISA members also alleged that no woman police officer was present inside the vehicle when Bora was taken away

NEW DELHI: “Beti Bachao Delhi Police se!” CJP national convener Abhijeet Dipke tweeted on Sunday after AISA members claimed that the organisation’s national president Neha Bora was picked up by Delhi Police during a protest march near Jantar Mantar.Meanwhile, Delhi Police also detained Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers, including Delhi unit president Saurabh Bhardwaj, as they marched towards India Gate to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demand his resignation.From inside the police bus, Bhardwaj accused officers of manhandling him during the detention. “They are picking me up and throwing me around like I am a football. They are standing there peacefully, yet these people are behaving so rudely towards them. What do these people think of the common man? If this is how they treat politicians and journalists, just imagine how they must treat the general public. This government must go, and I urge everyone to come to India Gate and make their voices heard. That thief! That thief! That thief!” he told reporters.AISA members told news agency PTI that Bora was taken away in a private vehicle without an official number plate and driven to an unknown location during the protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.They also alleged that no woman police officer was present inside the vehicle when Bora was taken away, calling it a violation of procedure.Members of AISA and several other organisations took out a protest march near Ashoka Road in the national capital, demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.The development came as AISA activists attempted to return to Jantar Mantar for the third consecutive day. The protesters proceeded towards the designated protest site despite heavy police barricading and security deployment in the area.The mobilisation began at Andhra Bhawan Circle on Ashoka Road, with protesters marching towards Jantar Mantar and raising slogans as they attempted to reach the protest site.Heavy security deployed at India Gate area due to AAP and AISA protests demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.(With agency inputs)
