What is PM-KISAN?
PM-KISAN is a Central Sector scheme launched in February 2019 to provide income support to eligible landholding farmer families.
Under the scheme, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 a year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their bank accounts.
How much is the 24th instalment?
The standard PM-KISAN benefit is ₹2,000 per instalment. There has been no official announcement of a change in the amount for the 24th instalment.
Who can receive PM-KISAN benefits?
The scheme covers eligible landholding farmer families, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions and exclusion criteria.
The farmer family is defined as a husband, wife and minor children. State and Union Territory governments identify beneficiaries based on the scheme’s guidelines.
Certain categories are excluded from the scheme. These include institutional landholders and specified categories of constitutional post holders, serving or retired government employees, higher-income pensioners, income-tax payers and certain practising professionals, among others.What should farmers check?
Farmers should ensure that the mandatory requirements for receiving PM-KISAN benefits have been completed, including e-KYC, Aadhaar-based requirements and land-record verification, wherever applicable.
The government has made e-KYC mandatory for registered beneficiaries. Farmers whose details do not meet the required conditions may not receive an instalment until the issue is resolved and their eligibility is verified.
How to check PM-KISAN payment status
Farmers can check their payment details through the ‘Know Your Status’ facility on the official PM-KISAN portal.
The facility allows beneficiaries to check information including payment status, bank details, UTR number, payment mode and the date of credit.
