Under the arrangement, the two NBFCs will jointly originate and fund loans secured against gold jewellery. Orange Retail Finance will have a 20% participation in the loans, while Shriram Finance will account for the remaining 80%.
The gold loans will be available under two repayment structures. Borrowers can opt for a bullet repayment structure with tenures of up to 12 months or an EMI-based structure with tenures of up to 36 months.
“The partnership allows us to combine Shriram Finance’s scale with Orange Retail Finance’s on-ground presence in rural and Tier-3 Tamil Nadu markets,” Muruganandha Pandiyan V, Deputy Managing Director, Shriram Finance, said.
Kiran Vedula, Chief Business & Operations Officer, Orange Retail Finance, said the company’s presence in rural and Tier-3 markets would support the gold loan business under the partnership.
The partnership will cover Tamil Nadu, where Orange Retail Finance operates through its branch network.
The company has 58 branches across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Kerala, according to the company.The agreement is part of Orange Retail Finance’s secured lending business, which includes gold loans and loans against property for MSMEs, the company said.
Orange Retail Finance is an RBI-registered NBFC headquartered in Chennai. It is rated ICRA BBB- (Stable), according to the company.
