Bajel Projects bags ₹200–300 crore order from Tata Power for Mumbai substations

Engineering firm Bajel Projects Ltd on Friday (October 9) said it has bagged a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order from Tata Power Company Ltd for substation works in Mumbai, with an execution period of 18 months from the date of issuance of the purchase order.

The order covers the supply and installation of a 220 kilovolt (kV) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation at Salsette receiving station and a 220 kV outdoor GIS substation at Powai receiving station.

Bajel Projects classified the contract as a major order under its project classification policy, which includes Goods and Services Tax (GST). The company categorises orders valued between ₹200 crore and ₹300 crore as major orders.

The contract is for domestic substation works and falls within the ordinary course of business. Bajel Projects also said that neither its promoters, promoter group nor group companies have any interest in the entity awarding the contract.

In August this year, Bajel Projects said it has secured an ultra-mega transmission line order worth more than ₹600 crore under the WR-ER Inter-Regional Network Expansion Scheme – Part A.

The transmission line package, identified as TL05, covers the construction of 765kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Raigarh (Tamnar), Raigarh (Kotra) and Dharamjaygarh in Chhattisgarh.

The project will reinforce inter-regional power evacuation capacity between the Western and Eastern regions of the national grid.

The latest order adds to Bajel Projects’ order book in high-voltage transmission infrastructure and strengthens its position as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner for strategic grid-strengthening projects across India.

Under Bajel Projects’ order classification policy, including goods and services tax (GST), projects worth ₹400 crore and above fall under the ultra-mega order category.

Rajesh Ganesh, MD and CEO, Bajel Projects Limited, said, “This order strengthens our presence in high-capacity 765kV transmission infrastructure and reflects the continued trust placed in Bajel’s execution capabilities.
