Pensioners no longer need to visit a bank or pension office every year to prove that they are alive. The Government of India has introduced Jeevan Pramaan, an Aadhaar based digital service that makes this process easier. It allows pensioners to submit their Life Certificate online, which helps confirm their identity.
This service is useful for senior citizens who find it difficult to physically visit banks or government offices. By using Jeevan Pramaan, they can complete the process easily. Here is how pensioners can submit their Digital Life Certificate online and keep their pension process running smoothly.
To create a Digital Life Certificate through Jeevan Pramaan, pensioners need a few basic things. They must have an Aadhaar number and an active mobile number. Their Aadhaar details should also be linked to their pension account with the bank, post office or other pension paying office. A supported biometric device is needed to verify their identity through a fingerprint or other approved method.
How to generate life certificate
Pensioners can generate their Digital Life Certificate themselves or visit a Common Service Centre (CSC), designated bank or government office. A service centre may charge a small fee. Find a nearby centre using the centre locator on https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/locater.
Visit the official Jeevan Pramaan website, enter your email address and download the application.
Connect a supported fingerprint or iris scanner to your device. Enter your Aadhaar number and mobile number, verify the OTP, provide your name and email address, and scan your fingerprint or iris to complete registration.
Enter the pensioner’s Aadhaar number and mobile number, then verify the OTP. Fill the required details, including the pensioner’s name, PPO number, pension type, bank account number, email address and other information.
Select the fingerprint or iris scanning option and follow the instructions. The system will verify the individual’s identity before generating the Digital Life Certificate.
After successful verification, an SMS will arrive on the registered mobile number with the Jeevan Pramaan ID. Keep this number safe for future reference.
Visit the website to access and download the certificate PDF using the details supported by the portal. The pension disbursing agency can also access it online when the facility is enabled.
The submission dates for Jeevan Pramaan are different for different age groups. Pensioners aged 80 years and above can submit their certificates from October 1, while other pensioners can do so from November 1 to November 30.
