India’s Defence Acquisition Council is set to discuss the Navy’s proposed Next Generation Destroyers (NGDs) on October 26. Estimated to cost around Rs 75,000 crore, the 13,000-tonne warships are expected to feature advanced weapons systems, including missiles, with a high level of indigenous content. The project is at the conceptual stage, with detailed design work likely to take four to five years.
