Motherson Sumi Wiring Q2: Net profit rises 35%, revenue jumps 47%; margins decline

Motherson Sumi Wiring India reported a 35.1% year-on-year rise in net profit to ₹223.37 crore for the second quarter of FY27, compared with ₹165.34 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue increased 46.8% to ₹4,053.8 crore from ₹2,761.9 crore, while EBITDA grew 33.6% to ₹373.6 crore from ₹279.7 crore. However, EBITDA margin contracted to 9.22% from 10.13% a year ago.

The company attributed its growth to higher customer volumes, increasing content per vehicle and its participation in new model launches across electric vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) platforms.

Premiumisation, which has increased the value of components supplied per vehicle, and new EV and ICE model wins remained key growth drivers. Timely expansion and ramp-up of greenfield projects also supported higher customer volumes.

Motherson Sumi Wiring said its performance remained resilient despite higher copper prices and other cost pressures. It also highlighted its focus on operational efficiencies, financial prudence and disciplined working capital management.

Chairman Vivek Chaand Sehgal said the company’s performance reflected continued customer trust and its execution capabilities. He added that growth was supported by higher customer volumes, increasing content per vehicle and participation in new model launches across EV and ICE platforms.

Shares of Motherson Sumi Wiring closed 3.24% lower at ₹34.60 on October 30, ahead of the earnings announcement.
