Dhanteras 2026: How to buy gold coins on quick-commerce apps and what to check

Buying gold and silver coins for Dhanteras no longer necessarily means visiting a jewellery showroom. Quick-commerce platforms are expanding their festive offerings to include precious metal coins, allowing customers to browse and order them through mobile apps.

Ahead of Dhanteras on November 6, platforms are also introducing offers, including free silver coins, discount vouchers and payment-linked benefits to attract buyers.

Swiggy Instamart, for instance, has partnered with Kalyan Jewellers to make its gold coins available on the platform. Between November 1 and 6, the first 1,000 customers across India each day purchasing an eligible gold coin will receive a free 1 gm silver coin. Every eligible purchase will also come with a digital discount voucher worth a 5 gm silver coin, redeemable at Kalyan Jewellers stores until December 31, 2026, subject to terms and conditions.

Zepto is also offering on gold and silver coins this Dhanteras, along with flexible EMI options for high-value purchases.

The trend is not new.

During Dhanteras 2024, Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket offered gold and silver coins through partnerships with jewellers and precious metal suppliers. In 2025, Instamart reported a fivefold increase in gold and silver coin sales over the previous year, while BigBasket reported a 146% rise in gold coin sales and a 234% increase in silver coin sales.

How to buy gold coins on quick-commerce apps

Customers can open a quick-commerce app and search for gold coins, silver coins or Dhanteras specials. They can then browse the available products, check the seller and product details, select the required denomination and proceed to checkout.

The selection and availability may vary depending on the customer’s delivery location and inventory. Buyers should check the estimated delivery time and final payable amount before placing an order.

What should buyers check before ordering gold online?

Check purity and weight: Gold coins may be available in different purity levels, including 22-karat and 24-karat. Check the stated purity, weight in grams and product specifications before purchasing. For silver, check the stated purity, such as 999 or 999.9, wherever specified.

Verify the seller and authenticity: Check the name of the jeweller, manufacturer or supplier listed on the platform. Look for product certification and assay details, where applicable, and verify the authenticity documentation provided with the coin.

Compare the final price: The price of a coin may include the prevailing metal rate, a premium and applicable taxes. Compare the final price across platforms and jewellery retailers instead of looking only at promotional discounts or freebies.

Read the offer conditions: Free coins, discount vouchers and cashback benefits may have restrictions on eligible products, purchase periods, redemption dates and participating stores. A voucher equivalent to the value of a silver coin should not be confused with receiving an additional physical silver coin.

Check buyback and resale terms: If the purchase is intended partly as an investment, understand the seller’s repurchase policy. Ask whether the original invoice, packaging or certification will be required and whether any deductions apply at the time of resale.

Retain the invoice and check delivery: Keep the purchase invoice and product documentation. At delivery, check the product weight, packaging and certification details against the order. Report any discrepancy through the platform’s customer support within the stipulated time.

Is buying gold through quick commerce different from buying it at a jewellery store?

The main difference is the purchase and delivery experience. Quick-commerce platforms offer the convenience of browsing and ordering from home, while physical jewellery stores allow customers to examine the product and discuss purity, pricing and buyback conditions directly with the seller.

However, convenience and delivery speed should not replace checks on authenticity, product specifications and the total purchase cost.

Buyers should compare these factors before deciding where to purchase their Dhanteras gold or silver coins.
