What should you check before investing in an FD?
Before investing in a fixed deposit, compare interest rates across banks and tenures to identify the option that suits your financial goals. Special FD schemes may offer higher returns, but check their maturity periods and eligibility conditions.
Investors should also check premature withdrawal penalties, interest payout options and the tax treatment of FD interest. Senior citizens should compare the additional interest offered by banks before choosing a deposit.
For bulk deposits, check the minimum deposit amount and the rate applicable to the chosen tenure. Interest rates and terms can change, so verify the latest details on the respective banks’ official websites before investing.
