The exchange’s total income increased 9 per cent to Rs 4,554 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 4,160 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
Revenue from transaction charges rose 9 per cent to Rs 3,035 crore during the quarter, against Rs 2,789 crore in the year-ago period. The growth was driven by higher volumes in the cash market and equity options segments.
Total expenditure declined 51 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,161 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 2,354 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
NSE had recognised a provision of Rs 1,297 crore in the year-ago quarter towards SEBI settlement fees related to colocation and dark fibre matters.
NSE Share Price Target
Emkay Global Financial Services has recommended a BUY rating on NSE shares with a target of Rs 2,050 for the period from September till the end of FY27. The brokerage’s target indicates a potential upside of 13.6 per cent from the stock’s current market price.
The brokerage believes changes in the Common Access System (CAS), expected to go live in December 2026, could help drive trading volumes.
Why does Emkay see potential upside in NSE shares?
According to Emkay, NSE reported a satisfactory performance in Q2 FY27 despite the impact of CAS implementation.
The brokerage said revenue from operations declined around 11 per cent sequentially to Rs 40.67 billion, led by a nearly 16 per cent decline in transaction charges. However, this was offset by strong growth in listing services revenue, which stood at Rs 1.5 billion.
Emkay said the management believes changes in CAS could help investors trade more, thereby driving volumes.
NSE also plans to launch corporate bond index futures and is awaiting RBI approval, according to the brokerage report.
On the expenditure front, employee expenses declined around 9 per cent sequentially to Rs 2.2 billion, while technology expenses increased around 6 per cent.
Consequently, EBITDA declined around 13 per cent sequentially to Rs 30.79 billion, while the EBITDA margin stood at 75.7 per cent.
