Shares of V2 Retail Ltd. worth ₹258 crore changed hands during the block deal window on Friday November 6. Aditya Halwasiya and Ananta Capital are likely to have emerged as the buyers in this transaction, sources told CNBC-TV18.
The trade comes just two days after V2 Retail, the value retailer announced an exclusive retail partnership with Cupid Limited, a company in which Halwasiya holds a significant stake.
About 1.61 crore shares, equal to 4.42% of V2 Retail’s equity, were traded at ₹160 apiece in the pre-open session, according to data available on the exchanges, which does not immediately disclose the buyers and sellers in the transaction at the time of the shares changing hands.
At that price, 1.61 crore shares that changed hands in the transaction, take the total transaction value to roughly ₹258 crore. The sources said Halwasiya and Ananta Capital were likely to have bought the stock in the deal.
A block deal is a large single trade executed through a separate window before regular trading begins, so that it does not disrupt normal market activity.
Under the deal signed by V2 Retail & Cupid, the latter would receive 400 square feet of dedicated space in more than 425 existing stores, as well as in all future outlets. The company said the move would widen its range of personal care, hygiene and wellness products.
Cupid’s management said it expected the partnership to generate about ₹400 crore in revenue over the next 12 months. Supply operations were set to begin shortly, and the products were targeted to reach V2 Retail’s entire store network by mid-December 2026.
The arrangement covered V2 Retail’s entire network of 427 stores, along with every store the company would open in future.
Halwasiya holds significant stakes in several listed companies. These included 34% in Cupid, where the promoter group’s total holding was 47%, besides a 6% stake in Baazar Style and another 7% in TFCI.
Shares of V2 Retail have jumped 9% after the transaction on Friday to trade at ₹175.75. The stock has been an underperformer though in 2026, having declined 28% so far this year.
