Tawakley joins from ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company, where he was Co-Chief Investment Officer – Equities. He brings close to three decades of experience across equity research, portfolio management, asset allocation and team leadership, having navigated multiple market cycles.
In his new role, Tawakley will work closely with DSP’s existing equity and fixed income teams, with a mandate to enhance coordination across asset classes.
The firm indicated that the move is aimed at strengthening its overall investment framework and ensuring a more integrated approach to portfolio construction.
Managing Director and CEO Kalpen Parekh said the appointment reflects the firm’s focus on reinforcing its investment processes, highlighting Tawakley’s experience in managing downside risks and taking a cross-asset view spanning macroeconomic factors, equities, fixed income and credit.
Tawakley said the firm’s investment philosophy and long-term orientation were key factors in his decision to join, adding that he would focus on building diversified portfolios aligned with varying market conditions and investor needs.
The appointment is part of DSP’s broader effort to strengthen its investment leadership and align strategies across asset classes, while maintaining a research-driven approach to investing.
