BHEL files ₹143 crore recovery suit against Raichur Power Corp in Bengaluru court


State-owned engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) on Friday (April 17) said it has filed a commercial suit before the Bengaluru Commercial Court seeking recovery of ₹143.21 crore from Raichur Power Corporation Ltd.

BHEL said the claim relates to amounts due under a contract for supply and services for 2×800 MW units and associated works for the Yeramaras Thermal Power Station. BHEL said it has approached the court as the plaintiff, with Raichur Power Corporation Ltd named as the defendant in the case.

Last month, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd said it had received a ₹13,500 crore order from NTPC Ltd for the main plant package of the 3×800 MW Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power project. The Notification of Award (NOA) pertains to the project located in the Peddapalli district of Telangana.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and testing of the main plant package, covering boiler, turbine and generator (BTG) components, along with associated civil and structural works.

BHEL revealed that the contract was awarded through an international competitive bidding process. The company had emerged as the successful bidder for the project in October 2024 and had received a limited notice to proceed in November 2024 to initiate basic engineering work. The PSU informed the exchanges that the project is to be completed within 62 months from the date of the award.

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd ended at ₹316.70, up by ₹7.65, or 2.48%, on the BSE.
