GMDC shares surge 16% to 52-week high backed on volumes highest in a month


Shares of Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC) Ltd. surged as much as 16% on Thursday, April 16, marking their biggest single-day gain since July of last year.

The stock is also the top gainer on the Nifty 500 index in today’s session. This is the third straight day of gains for the stock, having gained between 1% to 2% on Wednesday and Monday as well.

With this move, share of GMDC have risen 26% so far in the month of April, marking their best monthly performance so far since September last year. Shares had declined during the first three months of the calendar year.

Volumes on the stock have also been on the stronger side today with over 2.4 crore shares traded compared to its 20-day average of 16 lakh shares at this time of the day. These are the highest volumes on the stock in a month.

Along with GMDC, shares of other Metal companies are also doing well on Thursday, with gains between 1% to 3%. Shares such as Vedanta are at a 52-week high as well today.

GMDC has negligible analyst coverage, with only Nuvama having a “reduce” rating on the stock.

Shares of GMDC are trading 17% higher on Thursday at ₹726. The stock has more than doubled in value in the last 12 months, with gains of 130%.
