American Express ties up with District by Zomato to drive midweek spends on credit cards

American Express has partnered with Zomato’s District platform to introduce a midweek dining offer aimed at increasing credit card usage beyond the traditional weekend peak.

Under the programme, “Amex Wednesdays”, eligible cardholders can avail 25% savings on dining transactions every Wednesday through 2026. The benefit is capped at ₹5,000 per transaction and ₹10,000 per card per month, and is accessible via the Zomato or District app using a specific offer code while paying with an eligible American Express card.

The initiative spans over 40 cities and more than 40,000 restaurants across India, signalling a scale-driven push to influence transaction behaviour in the dining category.

From a payments perspective, such offers are typically designed to drive higher card spends and improve usage frequency in discretionary segments. Dining has remained a key category for credit card transactions, and midweek incentives could help distribute spending more evenly across the week.

The move comes amid shifting urban consumption patterns, where consumers are integrating dining into regular weekly routines, supported by hybrid work models, rising disposable incomes and digital payment adoption.
