Up Encounters: 10 arrested in seven police encounters in 24 hours | Lucknow News


Police recovered seven country-made firearms, pistols, eight spent cartridges, eight live cartridges, around 400 grams of silver ornaments, six motorcycles, a scooter without a registration plate and some cash during the operations.

LUCKNOW: In a crackdown on crime, UP Police arrested 10 accused in seven separate police encounters conducted across Muzaffarnagar district within the last 24 hours. Some accused were injured during exchange of fire with police teams and were later taken into custody.Police said the operations were carried out by teams from Budhana, Mansoorpur, Kotwalinagar and Nai Mandi police stations against wanted criminals involved in robbery, dacoity, mobile snatching, theft and other serious offences.Nine accused were shot in the legs, and 10 were arrested.In the first encounter, Budhana police arrested Shahrukh Pathan, a wanted accused carrying a reward of Rs20,000, in connection with robbery and dacoity cases. The accused, a resident of Chandhedi road in Budhana, sustained bullet injuries during the encounter. Police seized an illegal pistol, a country-made firearm, live cartridges, spent cartridges and a numberless motorcycle from his possession. Officials said around a dozen criminal cases, including dacoity, attempt to murder and Gangster Act charges, were registered against him.In another operation, Mansoorpur police claimed to have solved an iPhone robbery case within six hours. During the encounter, accused Shanky, a resident of Sardhana in Meerut, was injured and arrested along with his associate Manish. Police seized an illegal firearm, cartridges, a motorcycle and Rs2,120 cash from them.Kotwalinagar police arrested Shivam alias Mota, a wanted dacoit carrying a reward of Rs20,000, during another encounter. The accused, a resident of Saharanpur district, was allegedly found in possession of an illegal firearm, cartridges, 400 gm of silver ornaments linked to a dacoity case, and a numberless motorcycle.Nai Mandi police conducted multiple encounters during the crackdown. In one operation, Salman alias Shehzad, wanted in Punjab, was arrested in injured condition. Police seized an illegal firearm and a numberless scooter from him. Officials said several criminal cases, including cow slaughter and theft, were registered against the accused.In a separate encounter, Nai Mandi police arrested another wanted accused, Khushna alias Khushnaseeb, also wanted in Punjab. Police seized a country-made firearm and cartridges from him. Officials said the accused was a history-sheeter with several cases of theft, robbery and attempt to murder registered against him.Police also arrested Amar and Guddu during an encounter while solving a mobile snatching and robbery case. Both accused sustained bullet injuries during the exchange of fire. Two illegal firearms, cartridges and a motorcycle were seized from them.In another operation, Nai Mandi police arrested two wanted accused identified as Abhishek alias Kharkhosh and Sagar during a police encounter. Two country-made firearms along with live and spent cartridges were allegedly seized from them.

Police officials said all injured accused were admitted to hospitals for treatment and further legal proceedings were underway. Authorities added that the district-wide crackdown against organised crime and wanted criminals would continue in the coming days.
