Indian equity markets traded lower on Tuesday (March 17), with benchmark indices slipping amid weakness in IT stocks. Selling pressure in heavyweights weighed on sentiment, while investors remained cautious, tracking global cues and sectoral trends.
The Indian benchmark indices staged a sharp rebound on Monday, March 16, breaking their three-day losing streak as the 30-share BSE Sensex soared 939 points to reclaim the 75,500 mark.
The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 938.93 points or 1.26 per cent to settle at 75,502.85. During the day, it hit a high of 75,805.27 and a low of 73,949.76. The 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 257.70 points or 1.11 per cent to end at 23,408.80.
