Premier Energies promoter group sells 2.4 crore shares worth ₹2,291 crore in block deal


Promoter group entities of Premier Energies Ltd on Monday (May 25) sold 2.4 crore shares, representing 5.3% equity, in a block deal valued at ₹2,291 crore. The shares were sold at an average price of ₹955 per share.

Among the buyers, Quant Mutual Fund purchased 40.84 lakh shares worth ₹390 crore, while Nomura India acquired 25 lakh shares valued at ₹239 crore. Smallcap World Fund and Edelweiss Mutual Fund bought 24.4 lakh shares and 20.9 lakh shares, respectively.

Other buyers in the transaction included The Beekeeper Capital, Canara Robeco Mutual Fund and Tata Mutual Fund, among others.

A potential block in Premier Energies was first highlighted by CNBC-TV18’s Nimesh Shah in his segment D-Street Chatter on Friday, May 22.

Based on the March quarter shareholding pattern, Promoters of Premier Energies held a 63.94% stake together.

Surinderpal Singh Saluja (3.46%), Vivana Saluja (1.12%), Chiranjeev Singh Saluja (57.31%), Jasveen Kaun Saluja (0.62%), Manjeet Kaur Saluja (1.12%) and Charandeep Singh Saluja (0.31%) are the names that appear in Premier Energies’ promoter shareholding list for the March quarter.

In an interaction with CNBC-TV18 last week, the company’s management told CNBC-TV18 that there is no immediate requirement of funds for the company and that the capex plan for the current financial year will be funded through internal accruals.

Shares of Premier Energies Ltd ended at ₹984.15, up by ₹8.65, or 0.89%, on the BSE.
