Actor and director RJ Balaji visited a theatre in Tirunelveli to watch his film ‘Karuppu’ with fans and celebrate its successful response. The screening took place at Ram Cinemas, where he received a huge welcome from fans and theatre management. Drums were played, fireworks were set off, and fans gathered in large numbers to greet him. Later on, RJ Balaji cut the cake among his fans and took pictures. Speaking to reporters after the event, he said the audience response to ‘Karuppu’ felt like a festival celebration and called it a proud moment for the entire team.
RJ Balaji praises Vijay ’s impact on Tamil cinema
During the interaction, RJ Balaji also spoke about Vijay stepping away from cinema to focus on politics. As reported by OneIndia, he called Vijay a massive star and praised his contribution to Tamil cinema over the years. RJ Balaji said, “If there are 10 records in Tamil cinema, 8 out of 10 records will be under Thalapathy Vijay’s name.” He further added that no one can replace Vijay’s position in Tamil cinema. At the same time, RJ Balaji explained that he does not believe the industry has become empty because of Vijay’s political entry. “There is no such thing as a vacuum in cinema,” he said. He added that stars like Suriya continue to lead big films and entertain audiences. RJ Balaji also said he was happy to see Vijay moving towards a “bigger place” through politics.
Faith and spiritual themes in ‘Karuppu’
RJ Balaji also opened up about the spiritual side of ‘Karuppu’ and the belief behind the story. He said the film was inspired by the traditions and faith connected to the famous Masani Amman temple in Pollachi. According to him, people believe that prayers offered at the temple with true faith help bring justice and solve problems. “I strongly believe in God. I had confidence that God would take this film to the people,” he shared. He also said audiences who mock spiritual or devotional films may not truly understand the emotions of common people and family audiences. His comments received applause from fans gathered at the venue.
‘Karuppu 2 ’ confirmed by RJ Balaji
The actor-director further confirmed that a sequel to ‘Karuppu’ will definitely happen in the future. However, he clarified that the script work for the second part has not yet started. RJ Balaji said the current success of the film has motivated the team and given them confidence to continue the story later. He also called ‘Karuppu’ a special achievement for people who came from small towns with cinema dreams and struggled hard to succeed in the industry. The emotional response from audiences, according to him, has made the journey even more meaningful.
