HFCL shares jump 8% on ₹135 crore RailTel defence order; stock up 152% in 2026


Shares of HFCL Ltd. gained almost 8% on Wednesday, May 27, after the telecom and network infrastructure company secured a purchase order worth around ₹135.09 crore from RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. for the annual maintenance contract (AMC) of a secure operations network used by Indian defence forces.

In an exchange filing on Wednesday, May 27, HFCL said the contract relates to the maintenance of a project involving the implementation of a Secure Operations (OPS) Network for defence data centres across the country.

The company had earlier executed the project for RailTel, which included the design, supply, installation and commissioning of one central data centre and 120 mini data centres at Indian defence establishments nationwide.

According to HFCL, the original project involved establishing a secure defence communication network comprising hardware, software and data centre infrastructure, along with AI-enabled network security systems.

Following the completion of the warranty period, RailTel has now awarded HFCL the AMC contract for the project. The maintenance agreement will run for five years until January 2031.

Under the contract, HFCL will provide preventive and corrective maintenance, network monitoring, incident management, performance optimisation and 24×7 technical support services aimed at ensuring reliability and security of the critical defence communication infrastructure.

The company said the order reflects continued trust from government customers in its capabilities in implementing and maintaining mission-critical secure communication infrastructure.

RailTel is a Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. HFCL clarified that the contract was awarded in the normal course of business and does not fall under related-party transactions.

Shares of HFCL jumped nearly 8% following the announcement and were trading at ₹173.84 as of 12.39 pm. The stock has surged more than 152% so far this year.
