According to an India Today report, the Kapoor family secured permission to copyright Rishi Kapoor’s name. With that, they ensured that anyone trying to use the late actor’s name in a professional, commercial, or public capacity needs to get permission from the family.

According to the report, “As per the copyright, anyone wanting to use the name Rishi Kapoor or mention it in any capacity would need prior permission from the family.” The Kapoor khandaan took this step to make sure that the actor’s name should not be misused. Notably, several celebrities have taken a legal route to protect their personality rights in recent times to prevent unauthorized use of their names or anything related to their identity.

Rishi Kapoor is survived by his wife Neetu Kapoor, and their children ,Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor.The actor passed away at the age of 67 following a long battle with leukemia on April 30, 2020.Rishi Kapoor last featured in the film ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. The actor couldn’t complete the shooting of the movie. However, the makers decided to keep the portions that were already shot, and the remaining movie was filmed with Paresh Rawal replacing him. The movie was released posthumously on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, it arrived on the streaming platform on March 31, 2022.
