Some bank users report UPI payment issues; complaints spike on Downdetector

Several bank users of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) faced difficulties completing transactions on Wednesday, March 31. Many reported failed or delayed payments on social media platform X.

Outage tracking platform Downdetector indicated a sharp rise in complaints during the day.

Among the affected institutions, State Bank of India saw a notable surge, with over 500 users reporting payment-related issues.

Users cited problems such as transaction failures and delays in processing, though the exact cause of the disruption was not immediately clear. There was no official statement from the concerned authorities or banks at the time of reporting.

UPI, widely used for real-time digital payments across India, has become a critical part of daily transactions, making such disruptions quickly visible as users take to online platforms to report issues.
