Stock Market Holiday Next Week: The Indian stock market will trade for one day less next week due to holidays. On the occasion of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti next week, both the leading stock exchanges – NSE and BSE will remain closed on Tuesday, April 14.

A total of 16 holidays have been scheduled for the stock market this year, six of which have already passed. Following next week’s holiday, trading will remain suspended on nine additional occasions during the remaining nine months of the year.
Stock Market Holiday 2026: When are the next holidays after Ambedkar Jayanti?
In the second half of the year, trading will remain closed on June 26 for Muharram, September 14 for Ganesh Chaturthi, and October 2 for Gandhi Jayanti.
These will be followed by Dussehra on October 20, Diwali (Balipratipada) on November 10, and Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 24. The final market holiday of 2026 will be on December 25, on the occasion of Christmas.
Stock Market Holiday Next Week: Will the MCX remain open?
India’s largest commodities exchange, Multi-Commodity Exchange of India (MCX), will remain closed on Ambedkar Jayanti, also known as Bhim Jayanti, observed on April 14 to commemorate the memory of B. R. Ambedkar, a politician and social reformer, for the morning trade. The MCX will resume trading during the evening session.
According to the annual calendar of MCX, there will be 16 trading holidays this year during which the exchange will remain either partially or fully closed. The largest agri-commodities exchange, the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX), will also remain closed during both sessions.
How many MCX holidays are left in 2026?
In 2026, four major holidays fall on weekends. Therefore, the market will not be closed on these specific days. These include Mahashivratri on February 15 and Eid-ul-Fitr on March 21 (both of which have already passed). Additionally, Independence Day on August 15 and Diwali Lakshmi Pujan on November 8 are also included.
Diwali Lakshmi Pujan will fall on a Sunday, and the exchanges will conduct the traditional ‘Muhurat Trading’ session on November 8. The exact timing of this special one-hour session will be announced as the date of the holiday approaches. On the other hand, Independence Day will fall on a Saturday.
