The Indian women’s team notched up a convincing 19-0 win over Pakistan in the Junior Asia Cup on Thursday. The victory sealed their spot in the semi-finals, having already beaten Japan, Malaysia and South Korea earlier in the group games.
Pooja Sahu opened the scoring in the seventh minute, setting the floodgates in motion. By half-time, India had stormed to a 10-goal lead. Pooja Malik then completed a hat trick, leaving Pakistan clueless, while Supriya Malik and Purnima Yadav also got twice on the scoresheet.
India are now two wins away from successfully defending the crown. If they do, they will complete a hat trick of Junior Asia Cup titles.
