KVS admissions 2026: Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), New Delhi, has issued detailed instructions for fresh admissions for the academic session 2026-27. The registration process for Class I and Balvatika-1 and 3, wherever applicable, will begin at 10:00 am on March 20, 2026, through the online portal, continuing the practice followed in previous years.The last date for online registration is on April 2, 2026. For Classes II onwards, admission will be made in offline mode only, subject to availability of vacancies, in accordance with the Admission Schedule 2026-27. The instructions have been sent out in both Hindi and English mediums.Eligibility criteria and age requirementsFor admission to Class I, the minimum age is 6 years as of March 31, 2026. Admission will be made in accordance with the KVS Admission Guidelines 2026-27, including reservation criteria.For admission to Balvatika, the age criteria are between 3 to 4 years for Balvatika-1, between 4 to 5 years for Balvatika-2, and between 5 to 6 years for Balvatika-3 as of March 31, 2026. In KVs where Balvatika-3 is in operation, students will be admitted to Class I.Admission Process for Higher Classes and New KVsOffline registration for Balvatika-2 and 3, where online admission is not conducted, and for Class II and above except Class XI shall be conducted from April 2, 2026, to April 8, 2026. The applications should be submitted to the respective KV Principal.For newly opened KVs where operations commence from April 1, 2026, admission for Balvatika and Class I shall be conducted through the online portal, whereas for Class II to V, offline admission procedures shall be conducted. For existing KVs where new sections are added, offline admission procedures shall also be conducted in parallel for Class I.Publicity, Verification, and Scrutiny of DocumentsRegional Offices shall ensure publication of admission notices in newspapers, including local language newspapers, and on websites. Vacancy position for Class II and above shall be displayed on school websites, social media, and notice boards before starting the offline admission process.Principals have also been directed to verify documents like date of birth certificates, service certificates, address proof, caste certificates, and disability certificates, among others. Fresh admissions will be allowed if the class strength is below 40.Valid documents or certificates for the EWS category include documents like colour-coded ration cards, which are issued in states where BPL cards are not issued. Requests for transfer from one KV to another during the academic year will not be allowed, except when the transfer of the employee of the government occurs.Balvatika classes as well as fresh Class I sections will commence from April 20, 2026, while other classes will commence from April 1, 2026.
