Joshi had been serving as interim CMD since October 2025, following the completion of the previous CMD Narayanan Ramaswamy’s tenure. He has over three decades of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sector.
A long-time employee of GIC Re, Joshi previously served as Executive Director, where he oversaw international business operations, human resources, information technology, actuarial services, business intelligence and office support functions.
His career at the company has included responsibilities across domestic and international reinsurance, retrocession, finance, internal audit, credit rating, investor relations and budgetary control.
In a statement on his appointment, Joshi said it is an honour to lead the organisation at a time when the global and Indian reinsurance sectors are undergoing significant change.
He added that his experience as interim CMD since October 2025 has provided him with insights into the company’s priorities and operations.
Shares of General Insurance Corporation of India closed at ₹353.00 on the NSE on June 17.
