JSW Steel on Thursday, July 9, reported a 3% increase in consolidated crude steel production for the June quarter, to 6.59 million tonnes from 6.38 million tonnes a year earlier, driven by higher output from its Indian operations.

The company’s consolidated crude steel production increased 2% sequentially from 6.48 million tonnes in the March quarter.

Crude steel production from the company’s Indian operations rose 3% year-on-year to 6.35 million tonnes from 6.14 million tonnes and was up 0.3% from 6.32 million tonnes in the preceding quarter.

Capacity utilisation for the Indian operations stood at approximately 94% during the quarter, excluding the capacity of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at Vijayanagar, which was under shutdown for a capacity upgrade.

Production at JSW Steel USA’s Ohio operations stood at 0.24 million tonnes during the quarter, compared with 0.15 million tonnes in the March quarter and 0.24 million tonnes a year earlier.

The company said Blast Furnace 3 at its Vijayanagar plant resumed hot metal production on June 23 after a shutdown for capacity expansion. It added that crude steel production growth for the quarter remained at 3% year-on-year, mainly due to the BF3 shutdown.

JSW Steel also noted that the steel business undertaking of Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd. was transferred to JSW-JFE Steel Ltd. on a slump-sale basis in March 2026, and the previous year’s production figures have been adjusted for comparison.

Shares of the company gained following the Q1 update, but have since given up the gains and were trading 0.28% up as of 10.20 am at ₹1,222.90. The stock has risen about 18% in the last 12 months.
