AB Sun Life AMC Q1 Results: Shares fall 7% after operationally weak quarter

Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd. reported its business update for the first quarter of FY27. The company’s mutual fund assets under management (AUM) increased 6% year-on-year to ₹4.3 lakh crore, while equity fund AUM rose 10% to ₹1.98 lakh crore during the quarter.

Mutual fund QAAUM declined despite the Nifty gaining over 6% during the quarter. SIP inflows also fell 10% quarter-on-quarter.

Its individual AUM stood at ₹2.11 lakh crore, while passive fund AUM came in at ₹0.40 lakh crore.

Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC’s market share continued to moderate across both equity and overall AUM.

The company’s total alternate AUM stood at ₹2 lakh crore, comprising ₹1.95 lakh crore in Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), ₹0.01 lakh crore in real estate assets (₹700 crore), and ₹0.05 lakh crore in offshore AUM.

Higher employee expenses weighed on profitability. Mark-to-market gains supported net profit despite weak operating performance.

Following the business update, Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC shares were trading 4.4% lower at ₹1,069.40. The stock has declined 9% over the past one month, though it remains up 27% so far this year.
