Waaree Energies Q1 net profit up 14%; revenue nearly doubles on strong sales growth


Homegrown renewable energy company Waaree Energies Ltd on Wednesday (July 29) reported a consolidated net profit of ₹850 crore for the first quarter, compared with ₹745 crore in the year-ago quarter and ₹773 crore in the previous quarter. The net profit increased 14.09% year-on-year and 9.96% quarter-on-quarter.

Revenue from operations stood at ₹7,932 crore during the quarter, compared with ₹4,426 crore in the same period last year and ₹4,426 crore in the previous quarter. Revenue increased 79% year-on-year and 79.22% quarter-on-quarter.

The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at ₹1,440 crore, compared with ₹997 crore in the previous quarter, rising 44.4% quarter-on-quarter. EBITDA margin stood at 18.2% during the quarter, compared with 22.5% in the previous quarter.

Following the verdict issued by the Supreme Court of the United States declaring the reciprocal duties levied on exporters as unlawful, and based on the status of refund claims accepted by the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the group has recognised income of ₹349.18 crore in relation to refund of reciprocal duties levied under International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariffs as other operating revenue.

The group has also recognised ₹25.13 crore as a reduction from the cost of assets and inventory.

Shares of Waaree Energies Ltd ended at ₹2,738.00, up by ₹42.85, or 1.59%, on the BSE.
