Stocks to Watch Today, August 5: Investors will keep a close watch on a host of stocks on Wednesday, August 5, as companies continue to report their June-quarter earnings while several corporate developments remain in focus. Bharti Airtel, ONGC, BSE, MCX, Nykaa and NHPC reported quarterly results.

While LIC’s expanded offer-for-sale, HFCL’s capacity expansion, Tata Motors’ new vehicle scrapping facility, and regulatory and stake sale announcements involving Dabur India, Adani Power, Zydus Lifesciences, IEX and Meesho are expected to drive stock-specific action.

Profit rises 37 per cent

Bharti Airtel reported a 37.3 per cent YoY jump in net profit to Rs 8,167.4 crore, while revenue increased 18.4 per cent to Rs 58,539.1 crore in the June quarter.

ONGC

Profit more than doubles

ONGC posted a 112.3 per cent surge in June-quarter profit to Rs 17,034 crore. Revenue climbed 45.2 per cent YoY to Rs 46,460 crore, supported by stronger operational performance.

Profit slips

United Breweries reported a 9.6 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 166.3 crore despite a 10 per cent rise in revenue to Rs 5,919.4 crore during the June quarter.

Nykaa

Profit triples

FSN E-Commerce Ventures, which operates Nykaa, reported over three-fold growth in net profit to Rs 79.8 crore, while revenue rose 29.1 per cent to Rs 2,782 crore.

Steady earnings growth

NHPC posted a 2.9 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 1,095.9 crore. Revenue grew 18.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 3,808.3 crore in the June quarter.

MCX

Earnings double

Multi Commodity Exchange of India reported a 103.5 per cent jump in net profit to Rs 413.4 crore, while revenue surged 88.1 per cent to Rs 702 crore.

BSE

Strong quarterly performance

BSE posted a 62 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 874 crore. Revenue increased 63.5 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,566 crore during the June quarter.

LIC

Government ups OFS size

The government exercised the oversubscription option, increasing LIC’s Offer for Sale to 50.59 crore shares, equivalent to a 4 per cent stake, on August 5.

Opens scrapping facility

Tata Motors inaugurated an advanced vehicle scrapping facility in Patna, expanding its vehicle recycling network and supporting India’s vehicle scrappage policy.

Promoter stake sale

Promoter group entity Adani Infra (India) sold 12.48 crore Adani Power shares worth Rs 2,627 crore through open market transactions.

Weighs legal action

Dabur said it is seeking legal advice after FSSAI barred the company from using “100 per cent” claims on several of its products.

HFCL

Rs 400 crore expansion

HFCL’s board approved a fresh investment of about Rs 400 crore to expand its optical fibre and optical fibre cable manufacturing capacities.

IEX

Power volumes rise

Indian Energy Exchange reported a 7.7 per cent year-on-year increase in electricity traded volume to 13,527 million units during July.

USFDA approval

Zydus Lifesciences received final USFDA approval for its generic indocyanine green injection, used as an optical imaging agent.

Investors trim stake

Elevation Capital and Peak XV Partners sold a combined 2.27 per cent stake in Meesho to 27 investors through a Rs 1,949 crore block deal.
