Thyrocare Block Deal: Equity worth ₹793 crore changes hands in pre-open large trade


As many as 1.3 crore shares of Thyrocare Technologies Ltd. changed hands in the block deal window on Wednesday, August 12.

The number of shares that changed hands amount to 8% of the company’s outstanding equity.

Shares changed hands at an average price of ₹624 per share, taking the total transaction value to ₹793 crore.

Buyers and sellers in the transaction remains undisclosed so far.

CNBC-TV18 had reported on Tuesday that the deal is likely to take place in the block deal window. The indicative floor price was supposed to be ₹630 – ₹631 per share, amounting to a 3% discount to Tuesday’s closing price.

At the end of the June quarter, promoters of Thyrocare had a 61% stake in the company, based on the shareholding pattern updated by the company on the BSE.

Among the public shareholders, Mutual Funds had a 19.86% stake in the company, including Nippon India MF (5.99%), ICICI Prudential MF (5.57%), HSBC MF (3.84%), and Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC (3.15%).

Foreign portfolio investors had a 5.5% stake in the company at the end of June.

Close to 70,000 small retail shareholders, or those with authorized share capital of up to ₹2 lakh, had a 8.57% stake in the company as on June 30.

Thyrocare had issued a bonus in November last year, where shareholders had received two free shares for every one share they owned as on the record date (2:1). The company has also regularly paid dividends to its shareholders.

Shares of Thyrocare ended 4.5% higher on Tuseday at ₹649.45. The stock has risen 27% over the last one month, taking its year-to-date advance to 45.5%.
