US markets | The S&P 500 fell 0.5% on Tuesday, pressured by a rise in sovereign bond yields to multi-decade highs amid concerns over persistent inflation and elevated oil prices. The Nasdaq Composite fell 1.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average traded near the flatline.
Crude oil | Oil fluctuated near a two-week high, with the US and Iran stuck in a deadlock over control of the Strait of Hormuz. Brent fluctuated near $91 a barrel, after gaining 15% since early August. President Donald Trump said the US is not currently engaged in talks with Iran or scheduled to have them, leaving the simmering conflict in limbo.

The 30-year Treasury yield was little changed at 5.305% after hitting a 19-year high, while the 10-year yield stood at 4.72% and the 2-year yield at 4.175%.
