UCO Bank board approves plan to raise up to $1 billion through foreign currency debt

UCO Bank’s Board of Directors has approved raising foreign currency funds of up to $1 billion through the issuance of debt instruments under a Medium Term Note (MTN) Programme, the state-owned lender said on Monday.

The fund raising will be carried out in one or more tranches, according to the bank’s exchange filing. The board approved the proposal at its meeting held on August 24, 2026.

The decision follows the bank’s earlier communication dated August 19, 2026, regarding the proposed foreign currency fund raising.

UCO Bank said the board considered and approved the raising of foreign currency funds to the extent of $1 billion through debt instruments under the MTN Programme.

The fund raising is subject to the applicable regulatory requirements and will be undertaken through one or more tranches under the MTN Programme, as approved by the board.

The announcement comes as UCO Bank continues to access debt markets for foreign currency funding through structured fundraising programmes.

UCO Bank’s share price ended at ₹25.87 on the NSE on August 24, 2026, up ₹0.15 or 0.58% from the previous close.
