Groww AMC completes strategic investment deal with State Street

Groww Asset Management Company (Groww AMC) has completed a strategic investment deal with State Street Investment Management after receiving the required regulatory approvals, the companies said on Monday (August 31).

Under the transaction, State Street Investment Management will hold a 4.85% voting interest and a 23% economic interest in Groww AMC. The deal was first announced in January 2026.

The transaction comes as Groww AMC continues to expand its mutual fund business across active and passive investment products, including exchange-traded funds (ETFs), index funds and fund of funds.

Groww AMC expands passive fund business

Groww AMC has been building its passive investment portfolio alongside its active mutual fund offerings. Its passive products include funds tracking broad-market indices as well as sectoral and thematic indices.

The asset manager’s collaboration with State Street is expected to focus on areas including ETFs, indexing, systematic investment strategies and portfolio construction.

State Street Investment Management is part of State Street Corporation and has expertise in index-based and ETF investing. Its investment in Groww AMC gives it a minority economic interest in the Indian asset manager while its voting interest remains below 5%.

For Groww AMC, the transaction adds a global asset manager as a strategic investor as it builds out its product and investment capabilities.

Groww AMC looks at global investing through GIFT City

Groww is also looking to expand its investment offering beyond domestic products. The company plans to establish a GIFT City platform to provide Indian investors with access to international investment opportunities.

The proposed platform would allow Groww to offer products linked to global markets, subject to the applicable regulatory framework.

Groww AMC currently offers mutual fund schemes across equity, debt, hybrid and passive categories. Its equity portfolio includes diversified and specialised strategies, while its debt and hybrid offerings cover different investment approaches and maturities.

The completion of the State Street transaction marks the formal closure of the investment announced earlier this year and gives State Street a stake in Groww AMC as the fund house expands its presence in India’s asset management industry.
