NEW DELHI: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated his birthday on Wednesday with children with disabilities at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities in Dehradun.Dhami cut a cake with the children and interacted with them, enquiring about their well-being and encouraging them to pursue their goals with confidence. He became emotional during the interaction as the children’s affection and warmth moved him to tears.

Dhami said spending time with children brings “new energy and inspiration” to life. He described their affection and the happiness on their faces as the most special and memorable birthday gift.“The Prime Minister has introduced several schemes for Divyangjan and efforts are being made to empower them in every possible way. They do not need our sympathy alone; it is important to empower them,” he told reporters.The chief minister also added that every child has immense talent and potential and stressed the need to ensure that children with disabilities receive equal opportunities, dignity and a supportive environment to realise their aspirations.
