The recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 featured contestant Kapila Taneja from Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh taking the hot seat. During the episode, Kapila spoke about facing domestic violence in her marriage. She made a shocking revelation about how her in-laws tried to set her on fire and separated her from her daughter. She said her in-laws were strongly against the marriage and demanded dowry from her family. She added that the situation became so serious that she nearly lost her life.Kapil, who took to the hot seat in Wednesday’s episode, spoke about her traumatic past. During the episode, host Amitabh Bachchan noticed scars on her face and neck and asked her about the reason behind them. Kapila further revealed that she survived an ‘agni-kaand’ in 2002, alleging that her in-laws tried to set her on fire.She also went on to share that her in-laws tortured her as her husband had married against the family’s will. She said she was separated from her daughter when the the latter was very young and she has not seen her in 24 years. She claimed that her in-laws stopped her from meeting her daughter. However, she later learnt from neighbours that her daughter had moved to another city for work. She said, “I pray for her every single day,” she said.Kapila recalled the incident and said that she was saved only because someone happened to arrive at the right time. She remained unconscious for more than two weeks after the incident. Once she regained consciousness, she filed a police complaint, and her surgeries began soon after.Kapila currently works as a home tutor and spends most of her time at home. When asked how she planned to use the prize money, she said she wants to undergo surgery for artificial ears. She also hopes to open a home for unwed mothers, who often face judgment from society.During her appearance on the show, Kapil managed to win Rs 7, 50,000. She also correctly answered 9 Super Sandook questions and earned Rs 90,000. She decided to quit the game after she could not answer the 12th question.
