Marine Electricals opens Goa plant to build power train units for data centres

Marine Electricals (India) has begun production at a new plant in Goa that will focus exclusively on power train units (PTUs) for data centres and shore conversion systems for ports, the company told the NSE in a filing on Monday.

The facility is the company’s sixth manufacturing unit and has combined floor space of about 160,000 sq ft. It started operations on 14 September 2026. The company said the plant further strengthens its capabilities in critical power distribution and marine infrastructure solutions.

The plant is expected to reach full manufacturing capacity of about 800 PTUs a year for data centres by March 2027. The company’s existing five fully operational units in Goa and one in Vadodara will continue to make LV/MV switchboards and busducts.

The company said the plant is aimed at strengthening its production capabilities, improving operational efficiency and supporting growing demand from its Marine and Industrial business segments. It added that the facility is expected to enhance its ability to execute larger and more complex projects and support its long-term growth plans.

The plant will also generate jobs in the region, with roles across production, engineering, logistics, quality assurance and other operational functions.
