‘Three bodies, one soul’: Anant Ambani signals unified Reliance family commitment at Jio listing

Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani on Wednesday (October 28) spoke about the unity of the Ambani family’s next generation as Jio Platforms made its stock market debut, saying he and his siblings, Isha and Akash Ambani, stood together as “three bodies, but one soul” in their commitment to carry forward the family’s legacy.

Speaking at the listing ceremony of Jio Platforms’ initial public offering (IPO) at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in Mumbai, Anant said the three siblings shared a common purpose of building on the vision of their grandfather, Dhirubhai Ambani, and the leadership of their father, Mukesh Ambani.

“Today, Isha Didi, Akash Bhai, and I stand before you as three bodies, but one soul, with one commitment: to honour these dreams,” he said.

Anant traced Reliance’s growth from Dhirubhai Ambani’s early entrepreneurial ambitions to Mukesh Ambani’s development of the Jamnagar refining business and Jio’s efforts to bring internet connectivity to millions of Indians.

“Reliance will keep dreaming new dreams. But its roots stay the same: My Grandfather’s dream, My Grandmother’s blessings, My Father’s guidance, and My Mother’s sanskaar of humility and care,” he said.

His remarks came as Jio Platforms marked a major milestone with its listing on Indian stock exchanges, placing the spotlight on the next generation of the Ambani family and its role in taking the business forward.

Shares of Jio Platforms, the Reliance Industries-backed digital services company, made a blockbuster debut on Wednesday, surging nearly 23% against the issue price of ₹1,119 and becoming the second most valuable domestic firm by market capitalisation.

The stock started trading at ₹1,358, registering a jump of 21.36% from the issue price on both the BSE and NSE.

The company’s market valuation stood at ₹12,57,401.07 crore.

Later, the stock hit the days high of ₹1,375, up 22.87% from the issue price on the BSE.

Anant also compared the ringing of the stock exchange bell to a temple bell, describing business as an act of devotion. “Today, the bell at the Exchange will ring for me like a temple bell. Because for me, business is Puja. And every Puja ends with Prasad,” he said, adding, “Prasad is always shared. Today, Jio is shared with India.”
