TVS Motor enters Zambia with multi-product launch to boost Africa expansion

TVS Motor Company (TVSM) said on Monday, April 20 that it has officially entered into the Zambian market, marking a strategic step in expanding its footprint across Africa.

As per a press release filed on exchange, the company said it has partnered with Zamoto Manufacturing Limited as its authorised distributor to establish a comprehensive sales, service and spare parts network across the country.

The move comes as TVSM said it targets Zambia’s young and rapidly urbanising population, which presents a high-potential opportunity for efficient personal and commercial mobility solutions.

“Africa is a key driver of our international growth strategy. Our entry into Zambia is a significant leap forward, supported by a comprehensive product portfolio and a strong partner like Zamoto, we are building an ecosystem that evolves alongside the country’s aspirations,” said Peyman Kargar, President – International Business, TVS Motor Company.

He added that they are not just selling vehicles; they are building a long-term mobility ecosystem that aligns with the aspirations of the Zambian people.

As part of its market debut, the company stated that it has introduced a portfolio of eight products, curated to cater to a wide spectrum of use cases ranging from daily commuting to business applications and performance riding.

The company said the product lineup is structured across three key segments.

In the taxi and commercial category, TVS is rolling out the HLX series, including HLX KS/ES, HLX 125 5G and HLX 150 5G, which, the company said,  are designed for durability, fuel efficiency and low maintenance, particularly for last-mile delivery and taxi operations.

For personal mobility, the company is offering the ZT 125 and NTORQ 125, aimed at urban commuters seeking a mix of comfort, styling and modern features.

In the premium segment, TVS said it has introduced the Apache RTR 180, RTR 200 and its flagship Apache RR 310, targeting performance-focused riders with a racing-oriented proposition.

With this diversified portfolio and local partnership in place, TVSM aims to tap into Zambia’s evolving mobility ecosystem and strengthen its presence in the African two- and three-wheeler market.

Moussa Jawad, CEO, Zamoto Manufacturing Ltd, said, “With TVSM’s robust and fuel-efficient product range, combined with our deep understanding of the local market, we are well-positioned to support both commercial operators and personal mobility customers.”

Shares of TVS Motor Company ended higher on Monday, with the stock closing at ₹3,767.00 on the National Stock Exchange of India, up ₹31.20 or 0.84%.
