8th Pay Commission extends memorandum submission deadline to May 31 amid portal rush


The 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) has extended the deadline for submission of memorandum and representations to May 31, shifting it from the earlier cut-off of April 30, according to an official update issued on Wednesday, April 29.

In a message published on its website, the Commission stated that the revised last date for submission of responses is now May 31 (Sunday). It reiterated that all submissions must be made strictly through the designated online portal.

“All submissions are to be made only through the link specified. Paper-based memoranda, hard copies, PDF submissions, or emails are not being considered or entertained by the Commission,” the statement said.

The extension comes as the Commission continues stakeholder consultations in Delhi between April 28 and 30. On April 29, it held discussions with the National Council Joint Consultative Machinery (NCJCM) Staff Side, focusing on employee demands and suggestions related to pay structure and service conditions.

Following the ongoing consultation process and reports of heavy traffic on the online portal leading to technical glitches, the deadline has been extended by one month to ensure wider participation.

The Commission has also clarified that a wide range of stakeholders are eligible to submit representations. These include central government employees (industrial and non-industrial), All India Services personnel, defence personnel, Union Territory employees, regulatory body staff (excluding RBI), employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department, judicial officers in Union Territories, service associations, pensioners, and various central government organisations and unions.

The 8th Pay Commission was constituted through a government notification on November 3, 2025. Its mandate covers a review of pay, allowances, and other benefits for central government employees, defence personnel, All India Services officers, Union Territory staff, and other specified categories. It is expected to submit its recommendations within 18 months of its constitution and may issue interim reports if required.
