With the trailer of ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ generating online conversations, a section of social media users has questioned whether the film indirectly supports infidelity. As the debate continues, Ayushmann Khurrana has stepped forward to clear the air, insisting that the film is not endorsing cheating in relationships.The actor explained that the upcoming entertainer is rooted in confusion, humour and misunderstandings rather than moral messaging. Joining him during the interaction, co-star Rakul Preet Singh also reflected on their reunion after ‘Doctor G’ and shared insights into their latest collaboration.

Ayushmann Khurrana clarifies the film’s intent

In an interview with Mathrubhumi English, responding to the debate surrounding the trailer, Ayushmann explained that he has always consciously chosen progressive cinema throughout his career. “I have always been part of progressive cinema,” the actor said while referring to films such as ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, ‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Doctor G’.He further clarified, “I will never be part of a film that is regressive. We are not glorifying infidelity with ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’. It’s more of a comedy of errors.” According to Ayushmann, his character Prajapati Pandey is portrayed as a “green flag” husband who genuinely loves his wife. The humour in the film, he explained, emerges from misunderstandings and chaotic situations rather than from celebrating dishonesty in relationships.

Rakul Preet Singh praises Ayushmann Khurrana

During the promotional interaction in Indore, Rakul Preet Singh spoke warmly about Ayushmann and their friendship over the years. Calling him a “solid actor since his very first film,” she praised the actor for staying grounded despite achieving massive success in Bollywood.Rakul shared that while actors naturally evolve with time and become more mature in their choices, Ayushmann’s personality has remained unchanged since they worked together in ‘Doctor G’. She described him as an “amazing person” who has stayed humble throughout his journey in the film industry.

Ayushmann was equally appreciative of Rakul, describing her as someone who maintains a healthy balance between career, family and personal well-being. “We have seen the industry’s ups and downs together over the last four years,” he said, adding that Rakul has always remained emotionally grounded and wise.The actor also praised Rakul’s role in ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’, calling it one of the strongest characters in the film. “She has got the most author-backed role,” Ayushmann said while appreciating her comic timing and unique characterisation in the film.

Rakul also opened up about her character Nilofer, revealing that the role gave her an opportunity to attempt something completely new.According to the actress, Nilofer’s humour comes naturally through her personality, accent and dialogue delivery rather than exaggerated comic behaviour. “I was laughing while hearing her lines during the narration,” Rakul revealed, adding that she found the character both colourful and challenging.The actress, who was recently appreciated for her performance in ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, also shared her thoughts on comedy as a genre. “Comedy is actually the toughest genre,” she stated. “Making people laugh is much harder than making them emotional.”

Working with Mudassar Aziz again

Rakul, who had previously collaborated with Mudassar Aziz on ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’, praised the filmmaker’s writing style and attention to character detailing. She explained that the director has a clear understanding of every character’s personality, dialect and behavioural quirks, which makes the performance process easier for actors.Ayushmann too described Mudassar as “an encyclopaedia of Hindi cinema” and applauded his passion for comedy films. The actor revealed that the filmmaker often performs every character himself during narrations, making script sessions extremely entertaining.

About ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’

‘Pati Patni Aur Woh Do’ serves as a standalone sequel to the 2019 comedy ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, which featured Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles. The upcoming sequel also stars Wamiqa Gabbi and Sara Ali Khan in pivotal roles and is scheduled to release on May 15.
