The SIF framework allows fund houses to offer investment strategies beyond conventional mutual fund structures, including long-short strategies, derivatives-based approaches and more concentrated portfolio construction.
The fund house said the new platform is aimed at investors seeking investment products with different risk-return profiles alongside traditional mutual fund offerings.
According to the company, MPOWER SIF will offer strategies across equity, hybrid and fixed income categories in line with regulatory guidelines. The platform is expected to use a wider range of investment tools, including derivatives and tactical allocation strategies.
Anthony Heredia, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mahindra Manulife Investment Management Pvt Ltd, said the launch expands the company’s product suite and reflects growing demand for investment solutions with greater flexibility.
Krishna Sanghavi, Chief Investment Officer – Equity, said the platform would enable the fund house to create more flexible portfolios aimed at delivering risk-adjusted returns across market cycles.
SEBI had introduced the Specialised Investment Fund category to bridge the gap between traditional mutual funds and portfolio management services, allowing fund managers greater flexibility in portfolio design while operating under a regulated structure.
