After attending an event, Anjali Anand was spotted with Shiv Thakare as the two got into a car. In a light-hearted moment, she asked Shiv to take the middle seat, jokingly noting that she was taller than him. A paparazzo capturing the scene quipped, “Madam daba mat dena Shiv ko” (Ma’am, don’t crush Shiv).

The remark seemed to annoy Anjali, who fired back with a sharp response: “Body Shaming ghar jakar apni biwi ko karna” (Go home and body shame your wife). Visibly upset, she then told the driver to head off.

Anjali’s latest project, the comedy film ‘Dhamaal 4’, hit theaters on July 10. Following its release, a content creator raised questions about her decision to be part of a film with fat-shaming humor, given her past stance on body positivity. Content creator Soumya Dubey shared a clip from an earlier interview in which Anand had said that calling someone “fat” said more about the person hurling the insult, and that she would respond by calling them “ugly” in return. Dubey noted that this stance seemed at odds with ‘Dhamaal 4’, where, according to her, Anand’s character was repeatedly the target of fat-shaming jokes throughout the film.

In an Instagram comment earlier this year, a man brushed aside the term “curvy,” opting to call her “fat” instead. Anjali didn’t let it go unanswered—she clapped back with a clever line: “I know I am fat. Same way you know you are bald.”
