Another new listing has nearly doubled investor wealth in 19 sessions of its debut


Shares of Molbio Diagnostics Ltd. are locked in a 20% upper circuit at ₹1,509.40 on Thursday, September 10, with the stock extending its gains from its issue price.

At the current price, the stock is up around 87% from its IPO price of ₹807, putting it within striking distance of doubling investors’ money in just 19 trading sessions since listing. Molbio made its stock market debut on August 17 at ₹980, a 21.4% premium to the issue price.

Strong debut after heavily subscribed IPO

Molbio Diagnostics’ ₹940-crore IPO saw overwhelming demand, with the issue getting subscribed 70.26 times by the close of bidding on August 12.

The offer received bids for 57.32 crore equity shares against 81.59 lakh shares on offer. Qualified institutional buyers led the demand, with their portion subscribed 186.39 times, while the non-institutional investor and retail portions were subscribed 49.80 times and 12.96 times, respectively.

The IPO comprised a ₹200-crore fresh issue and an offer for sale of 91.66 lakh shares. Ahead of the listing, the company raised ₹281.5 crore from anchor investors, including Goldman Sachs, IFC and BlackRock Global Funds.

What Molbio Diagnostics does

Goa-based Molbio Diagnostics develops point-of-care diagnostic solutions, led by its flagship Truenat platform, which enables decentralised molecular testing and delivers results within an hour.

The platform is patented in more than 100 countries and supports testing for diseases including tuberculosis, COVID-19, hepatitis B and C, HIV and HPV.

The company reported a 14.8% year-on-year increase in FY26 net profit to ₹166.6 crore, while revenue rose 41.7% to ₹1,445.7 crore.

Molbio plans to deploy ₹105.5 crore of the fresh issue proceeds towards a research and development facility and Centre of Excellence through subsidiary Bigtec. Another ₹72.2 crore is earmarked for plant, machinery and equipment at its manufacturing facilities in Goa and Visakhapatnam.Shares of Molbio Diagnostics are now up 20% on Thursday at ₹1,509.4, having debuted at a premium of 28% in comparison to its issue price.
