As Elon Musk promises 'Jesus-Level' miracles from Neuralink: Here’s what he means

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has once again raised eyebrows with bold claims about his brain-chip company Neuralink, saying its technology cloud deliver what he called ‘Jesus-level miracles’. Musk made this comment in response to a post of social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The post talked about Neuralink’s progress in implanting electrode threads into the brain’s protective dura mater, Musk said that the company’s technology could enable quadriplegics to walk again and the completely blind to see. He reaffirmed Neuralink’s vision of restoring lost functions and even enhancing human perception. Musk has previously touted Neuralink’s “Blindsight” chip, which he claims could restore vision and allow people to perceive multi-spectral wavelengths such as ultraviolet and infrared.

Elon Musk’s ‘Jesus-level technologies’

For a long time, Elon Musk has touted the potential of brain implants, calling them “Jesus-level technologies”, simply for their ability to restore sight and also reverse paralysis. Elon Musk’s Neuralink promises users the ability to perform routine tasks using thought control, such as typing or moving a mouse.

Restoring speech through thought

Earlier demonstrations showed Neuralink implants helping patients with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) convert thoughts into audible words, effectively restoring speech. Musk said this was part of the company’s broader mission to bridge neurological gaps with advanced brain-computer interfaces.

Next-generation Neuralink chip

In January, Neuralink announced its next-generation chip, expected to debut later this year. The new version will reportedly deliver three times the capabilities of current implants, expanding potential applications in both medical and lifestyle domains.

Overshadowed by Tesla and SpaceX

Observers like Peter Hague noted that Neuralink’s breakthroughs are often overshadowed by Musk’s flashier ventures, Tesla and SpaceX. Hague argued that a mass rollout of brain-computer interfaces could have huge medical and lifestyle implications, positioning Neuralink as Musk’s most transformative project.“I think people are still not clocking what this company is going to do, because Elons other companies are much bigger and flashier. Mass rollout of brain machine interfaces is going to have huge medical implications, as well as perhaps lifestyle ones,” wrote Hague in a post on X.
