Ashoka Buildcon settles NHAI case, pays ₹1 crore; suspension withdrawn

Ashoka Buildcon bags $35.4 million highway project in Guyana


Construction engineering company Ashoka Buildcon Ltd on Friday (July 10) said it has entered into a settlement agreement with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), bringing to a close proceedings arising from a show-cause notice issued on November 26, 2025.

The company said the settlement follows its earlier disclosures made on November 27, 2025, and December 12, 2025, regarding the show-cause notice issued by NHAI.

“Pursuant to the terms of the settlement agreement, NHAI has agreed to close the proceedings arising out of the Show Cause notice dated 26.11.2025, with no further action against the company, including withdrawal of the suspension and confirmation that no debarment action shall be taken against the company and the company has agreed to pay an amount of ₹1.04 crore (Rupees one crore four lakhs only),” according to a stock exchange filing.

Under the terms of the agreement, NHAI has agreed to close the proceedings with no further action against the company. The authority will also withdraw the suspension and confirm that no debarment action will be taken against Ashoka Buildcon.

As part of the settlement, Ashoka Buildcon has agreed to pay ₹1.04 crore to NHAI. The company said the amount was deposited with NHAI on July 9, 2026.

Last month, Ashoka Buildcon had received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the Central Housing and Planning Authority of Guyana for the construction of a four-lane highway project worth GYD 7.46 billion (about $35.42 million).

The project involves the construction of a four-lane highway from Versailles, West Bank Demerara to Parika, East Bank Essequibo (Region No. 3) – Lot 8. The contract, awarded by an overseas entity, will be executed over a period of 20 months, the company said.

The contract will be executed on an item-rate basis. Ashoka Buildcon said neither its promoters nor group companies have any interest in the awarding authority, and the project does not qualify as a related-party transaction.

Shares of Ashoka Buildcon Ltd ended at ₹131.15, up by ₹4.15, or 3.27%, on the BSE.
