The fifth day of the Asian Games 2026 started with back-to-back medal wins inside the opening three hours. The women’s skeet team, comprising Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, and Maheshwari Chauhan, secured the bronze. But the more historic moment came in soft tennis, where India secured a maiden Asiad medal as Jay Meena bagged the bronze medal in men’s singles.
The men’s skeet team – Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan, Bhavtegh Singh Gill – also bagged the bronze medal, before Mirabai Chanu completed her cabinet with her first Asiad medal, winning a silver in women’s 49kg weightlifting.
Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker progressed to the 10m air pistol final, but was eliminated after finishing fifth.
More action awaits India on Day 5, with the Indian men’s badminton team taking on China, aiming to at least secure a silver.

Badminton:
Hariharan Amsakarunan and Arjun Madathil Ramachandran lose their doubles tie against the Chinese pair of Ji Ting He and Yi Liu as India lose the men’s team semifinal 3-1. Which means they get a bronze medal. Satwik-Chirag won the only tie of this contest.
Wushu:
Roshibina Devi marches into the wushu final in style. She defeated Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0. She is going to get a silver at least.
Weightlifting:
In the 53kg category, Gyaneshwari Yadav is coming back home empty-handed. Her best Snatch (87kg) and best Clean and Jerk (108kg) were not enough to get her a medal.
Shooting:
Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Maheshwari Chauhan win skeet women’s team BRONZE.
Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan, Bhavtegh Singh Gill win skeet men’s team BRONZE. Naruka also qualifes for the individual final.
Manu Bhaker finished fifth in 10m air pistol individual final; Suruchi Inder Singh, Esha Singh missed out in qualifiers.
