JAIPUR: At least seven people were burnt alive and several others injured after a fire broke out following a blast at an alleged illegal fireworks godown in Jaipur’s Khoh Nagoriyan area on Tuesday, officials said.The fire erupted in a small house in Ayesha Nagar Talai colony in Khoh Nagorian, where firecrackers were allegedly being stored, they said.Dr Deepak Maheshwari, principal of SMS Medical College and Controller of the hospital, confirmed the fatalities while providing details on the incident. He said that the victims were brought to the hospital following the blaze, where they were declared dead.Emergency services, including fire tenders and police teams, rushed to the spot and carried out rescue and firefighting operations.Locals also attempted to rescue those trapped inside and tried to control the flames before fire brigade teams arrived.Additional district magistrate Yugantar Sharma said fire tenders, ambulances, police teams, and senior officials rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the blaze.(With agency inputs)
